The Yosemite Community College District selected Aircon Energy to upgrade aging interior and exterior lighting for their Modesto Junior College campus located in Modesto, CA. The project is being supported by the district’s available Proposition 39 funding available from the California Energy Commission. The district’s goal was to look at ways to upgrade their extensive lighting infrastructure throughout the Modesto campus to reduce their energy costs. Aircon Energy worked closely with the California Energy Commission to assure the upgrades met the requirements of the Proposition 39 program.
Divided into two separate campus locations, Modesto Junior College has an enrollment of over 19,000 students that utilize 74 buildings, 15 athletic facilities and 36 common use areas. Aircon Energy is upgrading the exterior and interior lighting in multiple buildings across the campus, most recently for college’s tennis center complex as part of the project’s third phase. As part of the lighting retrofit project, Aircon Energy has performed related electrical upgrades including adding power and light poles for the tennis complex. The project was spread out into multiple phases with the final two phases scheduled for completion in the next 18 months. The lighting upgrades are expected to save the Yosemite Community College District approximately $107,000 in reduced energy costs annually.
